The scenery at the Rotonda
«This is a place for those who are charming and pleasant to meet: it’s on top of a small and easy to climb little hill. On one side is the Bacchiglione, a navigable river, and on the other are delightful abundant and fertile hills which remind us of a big theatre. There are plenty of delicious fruits and beautiful views, some en within sight while others end with the horizon».Palladio, I Quattro Libri dell’Architettura
Isolated on its own hill just outside the center of Vicenza, La Rotonda is clearly visible from the stretch of the Riviera Berica road that runs along it, the relationship between the Villa and its environment is completely harmonious, almost like a painting. There are no surrounding walls and hedges which prevent the view of the landscape.
Villa Almerico Capra is the ideal starting point for an itinerary on the territory for Palladio’s discovery.
The villa was once self-supporting thanks to the fields that still surround it today.
